(August 26th, 2019, Shanghai) Recently, Hilong Petroleum — Company LLC (UAE) signed a contract with Abu Dhabi’s National Drilling Company (NDC) to provide HL120S high-strength hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipe for three island and land drilling rigs involved in the extended reach drilling plan, with a contract value of RMB 90 million. This marks the entry of HL120S high-strength hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipe in the high-end market in the Middle East.
NDC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, the stateowned oil company of the United Arab Emirates. NDC is mainly engaged in oil and gas construction activities.

The successful bid by Hilong to provide the HL120S high-strength hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipe, indicates that the product is recognized by the industry’s leading market.” said Cao Yuhong, Senior Vice President of Hilong Group and General Manager of Oilfield Equipment Business. “The successful development of high-strength hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipe has further improved Hilong’s capability in providing better drill stem solutions and has laid a strong foundation for Hilong to explore a wider international market.”
Shanghai Hilong Petroleum Tubular Goods Research Institute started to research and develop high-strength hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipe as early as 2013, when related technical research in China and overseas was still in the formative stage. After years of independent research and development, the Institute has now designed special materials for HL120S high-strength hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipes. It has grasped the thermal treatment processes and technology, and developed a hydrogen sulfide-resistance performance evaluation system and internal control technology standards. Compared to the more commonly used 105SS hydrogen sulfide-resistant drill pipe, HL120S has 14% better performance in terms of mechanical properties, and it can resolve problems such as high risk, long cycle and high cost of drilling operations for deep wells, ultra-deep wells and extended reach wells in sulfur-containing oil and gas fields.
